The Sun Run with KARHU Running!

We’re excited to announce Up & Running’s participation in the Karhu Sun Run, a midnight running experience around the time of Mid Summer and Summer Solstice, which this year falls on the 24th and 21st respectively. Across the the weekend of the 24th we'll have promotions in stores across the UK in; Bristol, Bournemouth, Horsham, Teddington, Milton Keynes, Sevenoaks, Nottingham, Edinburgh, and of course online at upandrunning.co.uk.

What is the Sun Run?

The Sun Run is a tradition that originated over 30 years ago, right around the time we opened our doors for the first time! Runners participated in a midnight run across the Finnish - Swedish border on the 25th and 26th of June, to promote an alliance with one another, and to celebrate Midsummer’s Eve. The Finnish brand steeped in the running heritage, Karhu, was influential in this exhibition of running right up until 1987, the which was the last Sun Run.

This year, Karhu are bringing it back and we, as a brand that loves what the Sun Run represents, have decided to get involved…and you’re invited!

How to get involved?

So, what does this entail? We’d love it if you got together with your running crew, buddy or simply head out solo this over the weekend from the 24th to the 26th, running or getting active at a time that is a little more unorthodox to what your normally do. That might mean you set those alarms and head out on a run at sunrise, or you do a twilight stretching session! This period is the longest amount of daylight so make the most of it and most importantly tag us and @karhurunning in any snaps. across social! Because it it doesn't go on social, it doesn't count, right?
