Welcome to our new Mizuno ambassadors

Recently we ran a competition to find a Mizuno and Up & Running ambassador. With a whole host of benefits available to the winner, we were understandably overwhelmed with applications.

After a lot of deliberation and discussion the team decided we should select TWO ambassadors to represent us and Mizuno during 2021.

Thank you to everyone who applied we genuinely appreciated every single one and really enjoyed seeing your Instagram adventures.

Huge congratulations go to Richard and Agi!

Both Richard and Agi will be showcasing their running through their Instagram accounts, and we hope they will inspire each and every one of you with their motivational posts and adventures. Once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, they will be popping into their local stores and attending Mizuno in store events, so we hope they will become very familiar faces. They will be getting together from time to time, virtually and in person when possible, with Mizuno’s principal runner Susie Chan and will be kitted out head-to-toe in the best of Mizuno shoes and clothing.

Both our new ambassadors share Up & Running’s core values of running for fun and fitness while encouraging others to do the same and we are delighted to welcome them to the Up & Running family. Read more about Richard and Agi’s aims and aspirations for 2021.

Richard is a keen runner and a huge Mizuno fan. When he’s not spending time with his young family, he is channeling his 2021 training to run a sub 1:45 half marathon. Like many of us he is keen to achieve the magic Sub4 for a marathon and will be focused on chasing down that particular goal too.

When we told Richard we’d chosen him to be one of our ambassadors he was over the moon and told us: “I’m so grateful and love Mizuno kit as the quality is unbelievable. I started my running journey wearing Mizuno trainers back in 2012 and ran my first marathon in the Wave Riders at the London Marathon in 2014. After a few years of trying other brands I was drawn back to Mizuno when they launched the new Enerzy technology.

Since then I have never looked back. To have been selected to represent the Mizuno and Up & Running brands is really exciting. I hope I can really help to promote the benefits of running for everyone, from the community spirit found online to the ability for anyone to progress on their terms, be that running a new distance, a quicker time or simply to get fitter or boost their mood. Running has done all of the above for me and I can’t wait to share some of my journey with you all.”

Meanwhile Agi, who is based near our Surbiton store, is typical of the runner who never intended to run further than 5k. Several half marathons later Agi is hoping to gain a place in the marathon in October. Let’s hope she gets in and then we can follow her training journey. Agi who works with the elderly and vulnerable, has continued to run during the pandemic. She knows how important it is to always maintain good health and fitness, but particularly during this fragile time. Agi is already a runner with SRG and was in fact the first ever member of SRG Surbiton. Thrilled to have been selected Agi told us: “I cannot tell you how excited I am to represent Mizuno and Up & Running in 2021. I feel it is going to be a great experience and I am hoping to inspire other people to get into running. Exercise is more important now than ever. I am really looking forward to this new adventure.”

We are really looking forward to working with you both.
