Celebrating International Women's Day at Up & Running
This International Women's Day, let's give a big shoutout to the incredible women at Up & Running. They're at the heart and soul of our team, from the stores to the office. Let's take a moment to celebrate their achievements and running journeys. Lace up your shoes and join us as we highlight their stories!
Bethany, Up & Running Edinburgh
"As a runner based in Edinburgh, I've had the chance to test out a variety of shoes and kit. Two of my favourites this year are the widely loved ASICS Novablast 5 and the Salomon Hydration vest.
Completing the Montane Lakeland 50 in under 16 hours has to be one of my most memorable achievements, not only for finishing the incredible event but also for qualifying for the Lakeland 100.
Running goals for me would be two Ultramarathons, starting with the Devil O'the Highlands Race in April this year, and the Lakeland 100 in 2026."
Jess, Up & Running Nottingham
"Running is more than just a physical activity for me, it's a great escape and good for my mental health. I first started running at School and haven't looked back since. One of my proudest running achievements was representing my home county at the English Schools Cross Country - an achievement that still means a lot to me.
For road running, I swear by the Saucony Ride 17s and the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3s. Both shoes provide exceptional comfort and performance, making them my go-to for my everyday training and faster runs.
When it comes to running kit, my top choices are the Ronhill 1/2 Zip Top and Craft 3-Inch Shorts. These pieces are perfect for staying comfortable and performing at my best, whether I'm training or racing."
Sue Beveridge, Milton Keynes
"I started running at 53 after being diagnosed with Osteopenia (low bone density). I began with Couch to 5K like many others, and joined a running club after a few months, gradually I built up to 10Ks and half marathons. Now, at 66, I still run 3-5K three times a week – the perfect start to the day out in the fresh air!
I love supporting new runners and celebrating their progress no matter their reason, pace or age. Working at Up & Running in Milton Keynes gives great opportunities to meet and encourage runners of all kinds.
As for my favourite shoes, it's got to be the Brooks Adrenaline and Glycerin GTS. There's no 'perfect' shoe - it's the pair that you feel most comfortable in, gives you the support you need and the ones that make you want to reach for them! For clothing, Ronhill and Craft are my go-to brands, in particular the famous & iconic Shokz Absorber sports bra. They always impress with their design and long lasting piece of kit. And for the socks, it's Balega every time."
