Career Journey

• October 2016: Started at U&R as a Part-Time Sales Assistant at the Nottingham store.
• June 2019: Moved to become Store Manager at the Fleet Street store
• May 2021: Moved to become Store Manager at the Chiswick store

What’s your favourite thing about U&R?

The people! Working with a diverse bunch of people with different backgrounds united by their passion for running makes everyday fun and exciting. As well as our SRG runners, the brand representatives, athletes and the whole running community!

What’s your favourite shoe?

Hard to pick a single favourite! The Saucony Kinvara 4 was the first shoe that introduced me to serious running and handled everything thrown at it, and more recently I’ve been enjoying a wide mixture from Adidas, ASICS, Brooks, New Balance, Puma, Saucony for each different day on my training schedule. Perhaps if I had to pick one, the Saucony Endorphin Pro was on my feet at a recent race along the river and certainly didn’t hurt my time and result!

What’s your favourite distance to run?

Cross country / Half Marathons, though I’ve recently enjoyed throwing myself into the track – it’s brisk and tough in a different way, but it’s over in minutes and you can watch your friends in their distances afterwards – a real team day out.

What do you enjoy most about working at U&R?

Helping folks at every stage of their running journey and aiding their next step along the road/track/trail

What advice would you give someone starting out at U&R?

Ask questions, soak it all in and get involved – Up & Running is more than a job, it’s almost a family with each store unique but joined with one another and sharing the same values.

What are 3 words you would use to describe U&R?

Authentic, experienced and passionate.

If you could do any job for just a day, what would it be?

Professional ice cream taste tester (preferably for longer than a day).
