Michael, assistant manager, is sports mad and runs most days. He ran in the Liverpool Half Marathon a few years ago and thought
there was no better way to pass the Liver birds! He'd love to take part in the New York Marathon in 2009. If not in work he'll be in the gym or biting his
nails in front of Liverpool FC. He's proud to be a friend to the great runners in our beautiful city!
Paul has good experience and knowledge in all distances from 5k to a marathon over his 4 years' running and has represented Wales on several occasions on and off road. Has competed in several countries including finishing 8th in Trail du Bout du Monde 15K (France). And also competed in Trofeo Vanoni in Italy and the International island games in Greece, and in Germany for the marathon. He is planning on a few more marathons and longer distance races over the next 12 months. In 2005 he was ranked 4th in the UK under 17's over 10 miles and last year was ranked 24th U20 over the half marathon, and has several senior vests for North Wales. He's a qualified UK Athletics level 2 endurance coach, and has a BTEC National Diploma in Sport Performance and Fitness. Favourite kit :- Garmin 405 and Salomon Speedcross 2.
Clare began as a high jumper at district and provincial level, but now participates in sports for enjoyment and fitness! A REPS registered Advanced level 3 fitness instructor, with a BSc (Hons) degree in sport studies and an MSc in Psychology of Sport, she can provide expert advice and guidance on training.
Briony is a keen club runner and competes regularly for Mossley Hill A C.
One of Briony's proudest moments was finishing 3rd in the Tunnel 10k in June 2008.
Briony is also mad enough to enjoy off road and fell running and she is also a keen cyclist.
Come in and meet the team, share news about local running, and get great advice on running and fitness in this friendly shop!

Shot Bloks - Strawberry
Ever wondered where you could get in your training or competition with a little help? (And of course want to keep it legal!) Well now you can - a couple of Shot Bloks do just that, the electrolyte chews will give you the boost you all ways wanted 10 miles into a run. Taking 3 to 6 blocks every hour during exercise can really help your performance by refuelling your electrolytes and energy just when needed. I have also used them before starting my long run: 2 -3 blocks just before you go is great.
And don't worry - unlike energy gels that may have added fat, these come fat free just full of energy, carbohydrate (sugars), sodium and potassium. And best of all they are very light on your stomach, I know some of the gels and bars can be heavy when running. But I have no problem with the Clif Shot Bloks at all. They also come in 3 different flavours to suit everyone:
* STRAWBERRY
* ORANGE
* CRAN-RAZZ
All this for only £2.25 a pack - what have you got to lose, give them a go!! (approx 7 block in each bag)

Garmin Forerunner: 305 or 405?
What's the difference between the Garmin Forerunner 305 and 405?"
The two biggest differences are the 405's innovative touch
bezel and the wireless data transfer. The touch-sensitive bezel
controls the bulk of the functions while making the 405 look more
like an everyday watch. The wireless transfer is easy to use when
sharing data unit-to-unit, and any new data automatically
downloads when you're within range of your PC's ANT receiver.
Available in a multi-sport bundle that maximizes its potential for
duathletes and triathletes, the Forerunner 305's power,
versatility and reliability have made it a must-have training
tool. So it's hard to go wrong.
In my opinion having used both models, I do find the 405 that
little bit better and even simpler in some aspects with the touch
bezel. It's as easy as touch and go! No calibration required. Just
turn it on . Here's just a list of some of the great features on
the Forerunner 405:
* Run, Sync, Store and Share
* Watch Results
* Share Wirelessly
* Use with Ease
* Track Heart Rate
* Cross-Train
* Lock Onto Satellite Signals
But the 305 still comes in with the above advantages, apart from the share wirelessly spec. You can still transfer your runs and data to a PC but just using a USB cable. With the 305 coming with the larger screen of the two it does take some people's eye that little more, easier to see and clearer some people would say.
Ratings in my opinion out of ten:
Forerunner 405 : 9/10*
Forerunner 305 : 7/10

Salomon Speed Cross 2
Where do I start? If you're looking for a trail, off-road or mountain shoe that is light, cushioned and has a good quick response,
this is the shoe for you! On my many experiences with these shoes I can say I have always been pleased with their performance.
Now, when it comes to racing off road this is the first bit of equipment I pack. This shoe has taken me up Snowdon several times,
across the French trails in Brittany and over the international mountain relays of Milan.
Even better they come with extra support for runners like me who slightly over pronate.
The shoe is a unisex model to please everyone, and best of all they are only £75.
